This group is founded by two women who found each other through Gather discussions: one has a 7-year-old daughter with Asperger Syndrome, the other has a 41-year-old son with Autism combined with other disabilities. We see this as an effort to join together to aide and support others who face similar problems. We'll share our experiences and discuss what we've tried, what worked and didn't, and generally provide a resource of information, friendship and support for members. Members are encouraged to share their stories and photos. Our objective is to give members a place where they can find encouragement, help and sympathy when needed. We would like to have professionals who work in these fields join us, as well. The only rule is to treat each other with respect. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is the guideline we will strive to follow. To begin, we recommend the National Institute of Mental Health article at http://www.nimh.nih.gov/publicat/autism.cfm.
